| The world has a great many adventures just waiting to be experienced. There are adventures that can challenge even the most expert survivalist, and there are many that can be enjoyed by those just looking for a relaxing yet active holiday. In fact, you could easily find these kinds of adventures on almost every continent on Earth. The notable exception is Antarctica, of course, but otherwise there are plenty of opportunities to find adventure no matter where you find yourself. |
| 1. Europe |
| With the Alps and Pyrenees mountain ranges, Europe is a magnet for group ski holidays. The Alps stretch from France to Austria, and the largest mountain in that range is Mont Blanc. The range also features in the Tour de France, making it great for mountain climbers, cyclists and skiers alike. |
| Forming the border between France, Spain and Andorra, the Pyrenees mountain range does not have the height of the Alps (whose 82 summits reach 4,000 metres). Nonetheless, the Pyrenees range is older and boasts many notable waterfalls. Due to the gorgeous scenery, the Pyrenees is a real destination for mountaineers and skiers, as well as cross country runners. |

| 2. Africa |
| Africa in its entirety still holds much excitement for adventure tourists. The most famous African adventures include safari in Southern African nations and visiting Egyptian ruins, but Tunisia and Morocco also entertain many tourists. |
| Safari usually revolves around trying to spot The Big Five, the hardest African animals to track on foot. These are the lion, the African elephant, the Cape buffalo, the rhinoceros and the leopard. Most safaris are held in South Africa, Kenya and Botswana, but they can be undertaken across the continent. |
| 3. Asia |
| The world's largest continent, Asia has beaches, deserts and just about every kind of geographic formation on the planet. From tropical rainforests to volcanic islands and from deserts to mountains, Asia can provide a full range of adventures for tourists. |
| Uttarakhand, a state in the northern part of India, is particularly famous for its adventure tourism. It is very mountainous, so it is great for climbing, hiking, white water rafting and more. There are also great ski deals to be found at resorts on Nanda Devi, the second highest mountain in India. |
| 4. North America |
| North America has a lot to offer any intrepid explorer, but Canada is renowned for practically pristine mountains and forests. The great majority of the Canadian population is near its border with the United States, so there are vast expanses of wilderness in the northern territories where you can go days without seeing another person, should you want to. |
| Whistler, in British Columbia, has recently entered the international public consciousness after hosting many events in the 2010 Winter Olympics. The award-winning resort town has been a mecca for alpine skiers and mountain bikers since the first lodge was built in 1914. It is becoming increasingly popular with European tourists, and you can find many great deals for resorts in places like Whistler from Crystal Ski. |
| 5. South America |
| Though the Old World explored most of South America centuries ago, the continent still manages to capture the imagination of explorers. Much of this is due to the mysterious nature of the Amazon rainforest, with its thick vegetation making it almost impossible to navigate if you do not know where you are going. Of course, the Amazon is very delicate, and it is not advisable to try to explore it without having a very good reason, such as scientific study. |
| There are many other great places to enjoy an adventure in South America. Angel Falls, which is the world's highest waterfall, the ancient Incan city of Machu Picchu, the Galápagos Islands and the Andes mountain range give adventurous visitors to South America more than enough explore. |
