Asia Holidays with a Real Sense of Adventure

Those holidaymakers with tastes a little more adventurous than most are finding some of the wildest and most enthralling holiday experiences are now becoming more widespread when they investigate Asia holidays. In particular, the Far East, where tourism is, in many countries, still in its infancy and where some of the most unusual activities available on planet Earth can be undertaken.
There are a whole host of destinations to choose from and each offers a wide range of attractions for the more spirited to indulge in to achieve that rush of adrenaline. Several airlines are now operating low cost flights to the east Asia region, which is making this destination for adventurers more accessible. Interconnecting flights in the region are also relatively cheap, meaning that travelling from one country to the other need not be excessively expensive.
Getting around on land can be a little adventurous in some places. While some of the more advanced Asian countries, such as Thailand for example, have plenty of recognisable car hire outlets available, allowing you to traverse the country under your own steam if you choose to do so, but many of the less well developed countries, such as Cambodia, Laos or Vietnam, have far fewer options to rent a car. Indeed, driving yourself would not be advisable in some places given the state of the roads in parts of these countries and the frequency of road accidents, which is so worrying that many travel insurance companies refuse to insure their clients to drive in these countries anyway.
Fortunately, local drivers can be hired to shuttle visitors around and there is always local transport provision to take you to your destination, which all adds to the sense of adventure and intrigue.
So, where do you want to start for an adventurous Asia holiday? It all depends on where you want to see, what activities you want to do and how much you are prepared to pay!
A perfect place to start is to imagine your adventure on a tropical island paradise. Based in Thailand, you and your family get to experience life as a Thai villager, enjoy jungle walks and traverse rope bridges across raging rivers, while at the same time having a peaceful haven of a white sand beach to relax upon.
If you prefer something a little more exhilarating, then spending some time in the beautiful landlocked country of Laos is advisable. This largely rural and undeveloped country is in the formative stages of embracing tourism, yet offers some of the most spectacular scenery anywhere in the World.
Those keen on white-water rafting, kayaking, mountain biking or climbing can do so against the verdant backdrop of Laos' mountains and forests. While there, you can head to Phu Khao Khuay Npa nature reserve, which contains some of the most beautiful waterfalls in the region as well as a herd of wild elephants to track down and view.
If your sense of adventure is piqued more by experiencing new cultures and ways of life, rather than enduring any form of death-defying activity, then there are a whole host of tours available from reputable companies that can show you what life is like in countries such as Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia and Laos.
These adventure tours are a magnificent way to see the country, as your experienced guide will be able to inform you about the many highlights of your trip, such as the magnificent Angkor Wat in Cambodia, the timeless magnificence of Halong Bay in Vietnam and the beautiful monastic settlement of Liang Prabang in Laos; one of the few cities in the World designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
So, for those with a real sense of adventure, check out what Asia has to offer; outstanding natural beauty, incredible experiences, friendly people and an adventure on every corner!
